No one likes to get old. It’s already bad enough knowing that age is taking you over day by day, but when your experience and wisdom begins to show on your face, it already feels like your life is over. That first wrinkle is something every person, man or woman, dreads. Is there anything you can actually do?

Yes there is! There are plenty of home remedies that will help you remove those dreaded age spots. These tips and tricks are all natural and will vary depending on the amount of age spots, the shade of the spots and your skin tone. The lighter your skin is, the more harmless most remedies will be. However, if your skin is darker, then fading age spots may leave a skin discoloration. So just make sure to do your research before jumping head first into anything.

The first thing you need to do is think about prevention. Stay out of the sun during the middle of the day whenever its bright rays are at their strongest. If you have to endure the sun, then cover up and rub yourself up with some sunblock.

You are what you eat! Always keep in mind that your diet can be directly related to how your skin appears. Healthy is always better. Incorporate fruits and vegetables into your meals as much as possible and always keep in mind that fresh is healthier than processed and preserved. Avoid the sugars and caffeine to give your skin a boost, and just feel better in general.

Direct Vitamin E oil and castor oil are great for discoloration of the skin. You can buy some capsules, and just break open the capsules and apply directly to your skin. Aloe vera is great for treating burns, freckles and scars. That being said, it is also good for age spots. Just rub on some aloe vera gel onto your blemishes twice a day.

Other natural ingredients that have been known to remove age spots are lemon juice, onion juice, and apple cidar vinegar. Even though it’s not good for your body, buttermilk is great for your skin. The lactaid acid in it is known to exfoliate the skin damaged by the sun.

Before you pull out your pocket book for over the counter creams, check your cabinets and pantries to see if there is a more eco-friendly way to help your skin. If you’re rubbing it on your face, it’s always better that it comes from a plant or tree first. Stay out of the sun and don’t forget your sun protection.

Alright all you workaholics, put the laptop down or at least off your lap. Why you might ask, well there is a new skin issue that may be attributed to your high-tech pal.

Skin discoloration can appear on any part of your body, not just your face. The sun is still the number one cause of skin discoloration but recently there is a high-tech culprit behind the rise in leg-specific discoloration – your laptop!

Erythema ab igne, also known as toasted skin syndrome, is caused by an overexposure to a heat source without an actual burn. At first dermatologists were stumped by this red, brown sponge-like rash appearing on their patients’ thighs but after some simple research there was one common factor – long periods of laptop use.

Most manufactures include warnings in their user manual but if you are like me you probably never opened the thing :) But I had no idea that some device can get over 100 degrees, multiply that by a couple of hours of web surfing and you could definitely do some damage.

Although the name may sound a little silly, it can cause permanent skin damage and although it has not been directly linked to skin cancer, it can cause damage that can lead to squamous cell skin cancer.

So what’s a girl to do in this high-tech world? It’s simple really – just make sure there is always a barrier between you and your laptop (carrying case, tray, etc).

If you are like me you suffered the woes of acne all through the teen years only to break out from time to time post adulthood. When will it end? Since one of the main factors of acne is hereditary and my mom still has the occasional blemish, it will be a while.

I have tried EVERYTHING out there for acne prone skin! But did you know there are natural ways to battle the blemish and it wont cost your more than a trip to the grocery store.

Apple Cider Vinegar. Guess I should have believed my mom when I was younger, but I chopped it up to a “mom myth.” Vinegar can kill off acne causing bacteria, balance your pH and absorb extra oil on your skin.

Baking Soda. This makes a great, inexpensive scrub that can remove dead skin (which leads to clog pores). Add a small amount of baking soda to water to form a paste. Gently massage for 10-15 seconds, then rinse and pat dry.

Tea Tree Oil. This is by far my favorite all natural acne treatment. You can apply tea tree directly onto the acne spot to kill bacteria or dilute with another oil, such as jojoba, to use it as an astringent. Be sure to dilute the oil if you are not applying it directly to a blemish.

Aloe Vera. Last but not least, aloe vera is great for sunburn treatment but can also aid in acne treatment. It is known to prevent scaring, fade marks and help heal those trademark acne spots.

Got a great all-natural acne tip? Let me know…………….

Hope y’all had a great, long weekend. I sure did :)

When I was out and about enjoying some much needed relaxation; I noticed the rose bushes are now in full bloom.

Rose oil is one of my favorite scents in the world. So I got to thinking….If something enhances my senses so well, what would it do for my health and beauty?

Let me tell you, rose essential oil is one of the most beneficial essential oils. Its health benefits range from anxiety and depression treatment to bacterial and viral protection.

Rose oil is also a great addition to your beauty routine. Rose oil can strengthen your gums, hair roots and can tone and lift the skin.

Regular, topical applications of rose oil can make the scars caused by acne, boils, stretch marks and surgery scars and even chicken pox fade away with time.

Note of caution, while rose oil in moderation can treat headaches, there is such a thing as too much of a good thing…………..Pregnant women are urged to take caution with rose oil because if too much is used it can cause headaches.

For an instant eye lift, soak cotton balls in cold water and rose oil and apply to your eyes. Rest for 10-15 minutes then rinse.

If you are not a huge fan of rose oil, there are many essential oils that compliment rose. Mix any one of these essential oils into a treatment to ease the flower smell:

Geranium

Jasmine

Clove

Palma Rosa

Got a great treatment you use with rose oil? Let us know………
