Chances are if you are a pet lover you know all about the fancy cake parlors and spas that are fit for a queen, a 4-legged queen that is. New results published last week show that while the economy is still suffering, the pet pampering industry is not. The biggest growth is in the natural/organic pet industry.
I am a HUGE animal fan. I have two spoiled little pooches. The results suggest that while we are cutting down on luxuries for ourselves we are forking out the dough for our pets.
A fancy treat for your best friend can run you up to $20 at a gourmet shop and a luxury spa getaway can get even higher. Here are some great, natural ways to thank your pet for their loyalty but not break the piggy bank.
- Massage. It goes without saying that a good massage can certainly pamper my day. The same goes for pets as it does with humans. A gentle rub down can perk up anyone’s tail
- Aromatherapy. Just as doctors are now using this treatment to prevent and treat common ailments, so are vets. Here are two of my favorite essential oil treatments for my rug rats.
Energy booster:
Apply in the mornings only!
- 10-ml bottle
- 5 drops rosemary
- 6 drops lavender
- 2 drops peppermint
- Organic veggie oil
Combine all of the essential oils in your bottle then add enough oil to fill. Massage the oil gently into the spine.
Rough, itchy or dry skin treatment:
- 5 drops Lavender
- 6 drops Geranium
Pour the following essential oils into a 10-ml bottle and fill with Calendula oil. Apply to afflicted area.
