Last week I was concerned about a new bill that would hamper, potentially destroy, the beauty industry in Colorado. The Colorado Safe Personal Care Products Act, which would have banned cosmetics containing “cancerous” chemicals, has been dismissed.
The bill came under scrutiny from the beauty industry because of its vagueness and other issues. Check out New bill in Colorado threatens cosmetic industry for more of those concerns.
The bill would have made it a crime to sell any cosmetic product containing any “harmful carcinogens,” which are ingredients determined by governmental and nongovernmental bodies to cause cancer.
And any manufacture accused of producing the product would be fined $5,000 to $10,000 for each offense.
The bill has been indefinitely postponed so be sure to watch for any upcoming revamps to the bill.
What do you think about a bill like this? What would you have changed/added to it? Should Colorado eventually pass it?
