I’ll admit it, sometime I enjoy a good stomach sleep position. I’ve heard it is not the ideal position but I can’t help it! I know it causes neck issues but wrinkles, wrinkles, now I have to stop!
By laying on your stomach, you are pushing your face directly into your pillow. That pressure plus your body’s natural heat production equals cellular deformation.
If you are a stomach sleeper like me, it’s not so easy to just switch sleeping positions. Here are some easy ways to switch that position:
Place pillows on both sides of your body. When you are tempted to flip over, there is an obstacle which may help deter the switch.
Grab a body pillow and place it in between your legs. This should add some extra comfort and keep you from slipping onto your stomach.
Use a neck support pillow to help you sleep on your back. Or, place a pillow under your knees to remove back pressure - making it more comfortable to sleep on your back instead of your stomach.
Are you a former stomach sleeper? How did you kick the habit?
